info
Artist info - General:
Artists may release or upload new media to their specific profiles no more than once every two months [This has been found to be the optimal ‘digestion’ period across many similar websites & gives our audience time to take in our artists work].
A relevant image will be required for artist’s profile pages be it a photo or logo etc & may include what ever bio information they wish; from multi-paragraph uber informative pieces with reviews & all that jazz to no information at all. [Please also supply us with relevant links to your own websites or site you consider your home page, other release & bodies of work etc]
Artists can withdraw any or all of their work from terminalstation giving one weeks notice but having to wait till the 1st of the month for the website to be updated. [Although we hope this will never happen ;].
Artists are encouraged to let us know about live dates, gigs & exhibitions so we can update the events section & include the said dates in our newsletters; get this into us before the last week of the month, ready for 1st of the month updates to the website.
If our artists are members of social networking sites such as Facebook & Audiofarm etc again we encourage them to add us, join our groups & in general try & get as many of their buddies to link us up.
Artist info - Audio:
Demo policy - Simples, send us an email at info@terminalstation.co.uk with an individual track or link to somewhere we can listen to your music [preferably a track that will be part of your proposed station release]. If we like what we hear we will get back to you for an informal chat/ email & take it from there.
There are no contracts; artist retains all copyrights to their material [station is just a platform & neither wants or requires copyrights to anyones work].
In general we would prefer if releases were unique to terminalstation, although we do occasionally share releases with other netlabels; it would be nice if it was arranged & okayed with all parties in advance.
Releases are protected by creative commons cc by-nc-nd but artists are more than welcome to choose a cc of their own.
As well as being stored on our dedicated server, new releases will also be mirrored on our profile page at Sonicsquirrel. This will hopefully relieve some of our data transfer which although currently stands at 50 gig per month can easily be exceeded should a release receive a positive response across the web. [Over 75 gig in one month is our record to date & that was from a single release so you could imagine what it would be like if the same thing happend on a multiple release month].
Releases are, as of 2010, 192cbr mp3’s available for download as individual files or complete, archived as .rar [we’ll require .wav files & use our own software to compress audio so that all releases are uniform etc].
Not all our releases are mastered as we are not for profit & as such have no funds to offer this service, releases go out pretty much as they come to us. [Should an artists wish to master their releases & have the skills or funds to do this, please do].
Artwork will have a small station logo/watermark on the back cover [so that people will know where the release came from ;].
Artwork will be 24x12cm folder & 12x12cm cd art, both high quality 300dpi jpeg. [Artwork templates & terminalstation watermark
are included in the information pack].
Artists are encouraged to supply their own artwork, as we feel that this makes the release more personal to the artist themselves. [Although if artwork isn’t your bag one or more of us here at terminalstation station are usually willing to help out, it’ll just mean that it may take longer to get the release].
Promotion is a two way thing. terminalstation will promote through our usual channels but it’d be mutually beneficial to all involved if our artists could get involved in some of their own promotion [hit up some forums etc].
A new addition to releases, as of 2010, is the inclusion of .pdf press release to be included in all releases & emailed to specific/ relevant web based media outlets.
Of course the artist is more than welcome to include any other promotional & informative material in the release [photos, videos, sticker artwork & flash games etc].
